Why Children's Cancer Research?

We decide to advocate for children's cancer research for numerous reasons. Originally, we wanted to advocate for cancer research because this issue had affected each one of us personally, we had lost relatives because of this disease, and wanted to help find a cure. We had also decided this because right now Nova Scotia is in a health crisis. We thought it would be more close to us, and even more relatable, if we focused on specifically children with cancer. Theres not enough doctors staying in the province and their are too many patients being emitted for the limited supply of medical professionals. This issue is affecting hundreds of people, and because of this, patient diagnosis are going under-looked. Several stories are coming up in Nova Scotia about how people with cancer weren't diagnosed or turned away for several of years, meaning that they also weren't being treated or properly cared for. We wanted to advocate for research that would help better identify early diagnosis, so that people could be properly diagnosed and cared for. We made this issue specific to kids because the health care crisis is even worse when it comes to children's cancer and we felt that not enough people in our community were advocating for childhood cancer because it is much more uncommon disease.
